Jesus Take The Wheel

Yesterday was a hard day, I was going to Jakarta with my colleagues and we face the weather change so fast. I wrote to my FB : "Warm - Rain - Hot - Big Rain - Hot - Big Rain - Flood - Hot, etc. What a day, What a weather! Can't see the way! Jesus take the wheel...". It just comes out I remember this song, Jesus Take The Wheel. Beautiful song! See how details the song writers wrote this song. The song tells the story of a mother who lives a hectic life. On a late-night Christmas Eve drive on a snow-covered road on her way to Cincinnati, Ohio, the woman begins sorting out her emotions and bemoans not having enough time to do the things that really matter. Then, her car hits a patch of black ice, causing the woman to lose control of her car. She panics, takes her hands off the steering wheel and cries out to Jesus; shortly thereafter, the car stops spinning and safely stops on the shoulder. After taking stock of the situation (and seeing that her baby has remained fast asleep in the rear seat), the woman decides to let "Jesus take the Wheel" of her life.
Jesus Take the Wheel was written early in 2006 and began to be noticed when American Idol winner Carrie Underwood performed it in the fall of that year on her album Some Hearts. Jesus Take the Wheel spent six weeks at No. 1 on the charts and in 2006 was named Song of the Year by the Country Music Association and also by the Nashville Songwriters Association International. This song won 49th Annual Grammy Award too for Best Country Song.
I found this Hillary Lindsey's video from Youtube. Some people said that it's better than Carrie Underwood version, what do you think? Well, I love both but if I have to choose, I'll choose Hillary Lindsey version. She is amazing! It's amazing how song writers always feel the story line and lyric better than anyone ^__*

(Words and Music by Brett James, Gordie Sampson and Hillary Lindsey)

She was drivin' last Friday
On her way to Cincinnati
On a snow white Christmas Eve
Goin' home to see her Mama an' her Daddy
With the baby in the back seat
Fifty miles to go an' she was running low
On Faith and gasoline
It'd been a long hard year

She had a lot on her mind
An' she didn't pay attention
She was goin' way too fast
An' before she knew it, she was spinnin'
On a thin black sheet of glass
She saw both their lives flash before her eyes
She didn't even have time to cry
She was so scared, she threw her hands up in the air

Jesus take the wheel
Take it from my hands
'Cause I can't do this on my own
I'm letting go
So give me one more chance
To save me from this road I'm on
Jesus take the wheel

It was still getting colder when she made it to the shoulder
An' the car came to a stop
She cried when she saw that baby in the back seat
Sleeping like a rock
An' for the first time in a long time
She bowed her head to pray
She said, I'm sorry for the way I've been living my life
I know I've got to change, so from now on, tonight

Jesus take the wheel
Take it from my hands
'Cause I can't do this on my own
I'm letting go
So give me one more chance
To save me from this road I'm on
Oh, Jesus take the wheel

Oh, I'm letting go
So give me one more chance
Save me from this road I'm on
From this road I'm on
Jesus take the wheel
Oh, take it, take it from me
Ohhhh, why... ohhh...
