A FIRM Foundation

5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.
7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.
9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

Dave Branon in ODB wrote about to follow Moses’ pattern in Deuteronomy 6, taking every opportunity to teach biblical truths to children so they become familiar with biblical truths and make the truths a part of their lives. Using their interests as teaching opportunities, we repeat Bible stories so they become recognizable, while modeling a godly life before them. He call this as FIRM principle.

F = Familiarity
I = Interest
R = Recognition
M = Modeling

If you ask me, who’d already did this command, then without doubt I’ll answer : of course my dad!
Since I was a kid, on kindergarten, my dad told me about the Bible, he always talked the Bible like he was telling stories, very structured and detailed at anytime, anyplace whenever we both together, of course match with my age that time. Later I finally know why I have always got good grade on Religion subject in school ^^ because I know already the Bible story from my dad. Well, I am a sinner, I am not perfect, I just trying to be a good Christian as my dad taught, still learn to be, proud of you, Dad! Someday, when I have my own kids, I’ll do the same thing ^^ so they will know and worship the living God.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just read my Farewell letter which I've posted in my Facebook account and sent to all my Customers/Partners/Colleagues/Friends during my last day in Thano hehehe I think I just missed them, all the people I've been work with. I never love farewell anyway but sometimes we have to face it since there a time for everything as wrote in Ecclesiastes 3 (NIV)

 1 There is a time for everything,
   and a season for every activity under the heavens:
 2 a time to be born and a time to die,
   a time to plant and a time to uproot,
 3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
   a time to tear down and a time to build,
 4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
   a time to mourn and a time to dance,
 5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
   a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
 6 a time to search and a time to give up,
   a time to keep and a time to throw away,
 7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
   a time to be silent and a time to speak,
 8 a time to love and a time to hate,
   a time for war and a time for peace.

Nowadays I work already with the government as a civil servant because I want to do something for my hometown (too overrated? well, if not us who else would build/develop our hometown? ^_^), some still wondering, why I leave all my comfort zone and everything I've been reach for hehehe well everything has change and of course to reach my dream as I always said "DREAM IT, CHASE IT, and KEEP ON FAITH!" no pain no gain dude :p

Perampokan

Pagi – pagi tadi sudah mendengar berita mengejutkan, rumah sepupu saya baru saja dirampok sekitar pukul 3 subuh dini hari, perampoknya ada sekitar 40an orang, can you imagine that?!

Something Went Wrong...

I don’t know what happen in SOS lately, but looks like something went wrong, and now I am part of it. I do really care about them, I love them very much, and I've always trying to help them as possible as I can but some think that’s worthless. Some says that someone has made a baseless issue or slander about some of them and since I close to them, I am in trouble too, I guess, now seems like I am not allowed to making friend with them and it’s killing me. Everybody is trying to make their own judgment about who's wrong and who's right. I am in the middle of nowhere, silent (do nothing) means wrong, help (do something) means wrong too, what am I supposed to do then?
It’s been about 5 months I stay here as a guest, and that’s pretty good enough to know the kids, they were so nice to me and I really love them. It is good enough too to know who’s pretending hard working and who’s pure. It’s easy to see the different of their habit while the owner is here and while she is not here. Everything is fine until I don’t know why, what, when, who, where, how, its turn to weird. All I know that something went wrong, oh dear God please help them to fix it, open the eye of their heart Lord, I want all things back to normal again.
This morning solitude reminds me that "if you’re in a situation where you need God’s help, reach up your hand to Him in prayer. He has promised His comfort and help." 2 Cor. 1:3-4 ---> Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassions and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. Heb. 4:16 ---> Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

I trust You Lord!

Waikelo Beach

Yesterday, I was trying to reach the beach but I got lost (well, it sounds like me, anyway :p), until I reach Karuni, it almost reach Katewel, but it doesn’t matter because I love the view, landscape, etc. Since I am running out of fuel and it’s getting dark, I decided to return.
I really tired after working today, I supposed to be at home before lunch time since it's Friday but I've to stay at office until 4.30PM :( , I need to see the beach, and then this afternoon I go again, try to find the beach, Yay!!! I finally reach the beach, Waikelo beach, almost nobody there, just talk to a fisherman, enjoying beautiful sunset, really calm, so peaceful, I love it, that’s what I call Lonely Planet. I’ll often go there because I love beach, next time I’ll bring my sport shoes so I can run along the beach ^^ and will trying to find another beach until I conquer all the beach in West South Sumba hahaha.

September 13

It's been 8 years since my dad past away, but still feels like he is alive, I decided to going home because it will be the first time I put/fire a candle in his grave on September 13. In Sumba, most people have a simple ritual to memorized someone who already died like fire a candle, put flowers relate to his/her special day. So after ask permission from my boss I go to Waikabubak to visit my dad, well my dad's grave. At night we fire some candle in his grave, each candle for each member in my house, and put some piece of flowers. Believe it or not, we smell a good scent from basil leaf spread around the grave (there no basil leaf around his grave) and it's really good, I like it, I don't believe in myth but I think something weird just happening that night. 2 or 3 weeks ago, our car horn ringing at 4 or 5AM, we were confused, who's gonna ring the horn in early morning, it's happen several times but there nobody in the car, while in bed my sister just said "Dad, please stop it, just come in" and the horn stop ringing hehehe, is it possible? I don't know. One day the horn ringing about 7PM too, it wont stop until my mom standing in front of the grave, I don't know what happen but it finally stop. Well, that's what going on. While living in Bandung and Jakarta, I've always dream about my Dad, almost every single night, he looks like so in peace, thank you Lord for that, You still allowed me to meet him in my night dream, I am happy for that, still feels like he is always with me, never leave me. Well, not only me having a dream about my Dad, my sisters, my mom, still have dream about him too, maybe because we really love and close to him, that why he always on our dream. Since I live in Sumba, I rarely dream about him, but that's ok since I live near around his grave.
Thank you Lord for the best Dad in the world, thank you Lord for the best Dad that I've ever had, I really proud to be his daughter. Love you Dad and miss you so badly :* :* :*

11-09-11

I just reading articles and seeing pictures of 9/11 in the internet, I got goose bumps and teary eyes. Well, today marks the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in the United States on September 11, 2001. It’s hard to think about that date without mental images of the destruction, grief, and loss that swept over America and the world following those tragic events. 10 years ago I was just started my college life in Bandung and the news was shocking me, even America as big country in the world were attack by terrorist, geeezzz…Since that day, everybody was thinking that no places are safe in the world, living in worrying and afraid but there’s always hope, no matter what kind of sorrow we experience, we can always trust the mercy of God, the real comfort. May God heal and bless them who’s in sorrow and pain. May God protect us wherever we go and live.

Phishing

My friend told me that she has been threaten by phone or email, after check that account, the account owner said that she/he is not threaten her, someone were trying to compete them, playing a game, so I guess it is a phishing, in my opinion. Let's take a look what Microsoft said about Phishing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Phishing (pronounced "fishing") is a type of online identity theft. It uses email and fraudulent websites that are designed to steal your personal data or information such as credit card numbers, passwords, account data, or other information. Con artists might send millions of fraudulent email messages with links to fraudulent websites that appear to come from websites you trust, like your bank or credit card company, and request that you provide personal information. Criminals can use this information for many different types of fraud, such as to steal money from your account, to open new accounts in your name, or to obtain official documents using your identity.

How to recognize phishing email messages, links, or phone calls
Phishing email messages, websites, and phone calls are designed to steal money. Cybercriminals can do this by installing malicious software on your computer or stealing personal information off of your computer. Cybercriminals also use social engineering to convince you to install malicious software or hand over your personal information under false pretenses. They might email you, call you on the phone, or convince you to download something off of a website.

What does a phishing email message look like?
Here is an example of what a phishing scam in an email message might look like.
  • Spelling and bad grammar. Cybercriminals are not known for their grammar and spelling. Professional companies or organizations usually have a staff of copy editors that will not allow a mass email like this to go out to its users. If you notice mistakes in an email, it might be a scam.
  • Beware of links in email. If you see a link in a suspicious email message, don't click on it. Rest your mouse (but don't click) on the link to see if the address matches the link that was typed in the message. In the example below the link reveals the real web address, as shown in the box with the yellow background. The string of cryptic numbers looks nothing like the company's web address. Links might also lead you to .exe files. These kinds of file are known to spread malicious software.
  • Threats. Have you ever received a threat that your Hotmail account would be closed if you didn't respond to an email message? The email message shown above is an example of the same trick. Cybercriminals often use threats that your security has been compromised.
  • Spoofing popular websites or companies. Scam artists use graphics in email that appear to be connected to legitimate websites but actually take you to phony scam sites or legitimate-looking pop-up windows.

Cybercriminals also use web addresses that resemble the names of well-known companies but are slightly altered. For more information, see Protect yourself from cybersquatting and fake web addresses.

Beware of phishing phone calls
Cybercriminals might call you on the phone and offer to help solve your computer problems or sell you a software license. Neither Microsoft nor our partners make unsolicited phone calls (also known as cold calls) to charge you for computer security or software fixes.
Once they've gained your trust, cybercriminals might ask for your user name and password or ask you to go to a website to install software that will let them access your computer to fix it. Once you do this, your computer and your personal information is vulnerable.
Treat all unsolicited phone calls with skepticism. Do not provide any personal information.

Report phishing scams
If you receive a fake phone call, take down the caller's information and report it to your local authorities.
You can use Microsoft tools to report a suspected scam on the web or in email.
  • Internet Explorer. While you are on a suspicious site, click the gear icon and then point to Safety. Then click Report Unsafe Website and use the web page that is displayed to report the website.
  • Hotmail. If you receive a suspicious email message that asks for personal information, click the check box next to the message in your Hotmail inbox. Click Mark as and then point to Phishing scam.
  • Microsoft Office Outlook. Attach the suspicious email message to a new email message and forward it to reportphishing@antiphishing.org.

Gone

A shocking news coming from my sister's friend during the holiday, His name is Nathan, he is from Toraja but being teacher in Waijelu, East Sumba. I never met him but from the story I’ve heard, he is mostly known as a good person, he is one of Perkantas member. He was passing away last week on his calm sleep. In the morning, some friend thought that he was still sleeping but actually already gone, base on doctor information that he was gone around 3 or 4 AM. Many people were crying because of losing him but some says how lucky he is, because he was gone while sleeping, so calm. We never know how we will die, because it’s a mystery, it’s a God’s secret. Most people are afraid to facing dead but as believers we should not worry about dead because God promises to prepare a place in His home. If I could ask God about how I will die, I would love to ask him to die in peace, while sleeping or while sitting in my comfort chair in a beautiful garden under a tree, flashback my entire life and try to counting His blessing for all my life for He is God Almighty who created me in marvelous and wonderful made (Psalm 139:14). Let’s us not worry about anything include dead thing, as Paul the Apostle said in Philippians 1:21 “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (KJV), trust in the Lord forever and ever! Glory to God!

The Lost Boy

I finally finish read a book "The Lost Boy" by Dave Pelzer. He was writing about his story based on life from ages 12 to 18. "The Lost Boy" is the harrowing but ultimately uplifting true story of a boy's journey through the foster-care system in search of a family to love. This is Dave Pelzer's long-awaited sequel to "A Child Called 'It'". I never read before the first book "A Child Called 'It'” because I don’t have it but I think I can imagine how the story was. From the beginning when I read this book, I’ve always asking myself, what kind of Mom who treats her child like that?  In common, base on some true story, the disability of poor parenting is more likely to cause disruption in a child’s intellectual and social growth than a physical disability. A child who has supportive parents and a reading disability may be delayed in reading, but they has a better chance of general life success than an abused child without a disability. And two thumbs up for David who survives from child abuse. It is interesting to read his story, he is really amazing. I would love to read the first one “A Child Called 'It'” and the last one “A Man Called Dave” as part of his trilogy, if I got it both. I hope!

This is about the author which is written in the book :
A retired Air Force air crew member, Dave played a major role in Operations Just Cause, Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Dave was selected for the unique task of midair refueling of the then highly secretive SR-17 Blackbird and F-117 Stealth Fighter. While serving in the Air Force, Dave worked in juvenile hall and other programs involving “youth at risk” throughout California. Dave’s exceptional accomplishments include personal commendations from former Presidents Ronald Reagan and George Bush. While maintaining a rigorous, activeduty flight schedule, Dave was the recipient of the 1990 J.C. Penney Golden Rule Award, making him the California Volunteer of the Year. In 1993 Dave was honored as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Americans (TOYA), joining a distinguished group of alumni that includes Chuck Yeager, Christopher Reeve, Anne Bancroft, John F. Kennedy, Orson Welles and Walt Disney. In 1994 Dave was the only American to be selected as one of The Outstanding Young Persons of the World (TOYP), for his efforts involving child abuse awareness and prevention, as well as for instilling resilience in others. During the Centennial Olympic Games, Dave was a torchbearer, carrying the coveted flame. Dave is currently working on a book based on overcoming obstacles and achieving one’s innermost best, as well as on the third part of his trilogy, entitled A Man Named Dave. When not on the road or with his son, Stephen, Dave lives a quiet life at the Russian River, in Guerneville, California, with his box turtle named Chuck.
